Many don't contain actual citronella but an oil called Citon. Citron is a synthetic compound that simply smells like citronella, but this won't fool the mosquito. Or, if the product does actually contain citronella oil, many are at such low levels that they won't work either! We’re excited to launch SUNSET and SUMMERTIME, our two new fragrances infused with Citrepel. Citrepel is a natural, highly effective insect repellent. And unlike traditional repellents, Citrepel is odorless to humans, so you can stay protected without any unpleasant smells commonly found in other store-bought products.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND FRAGRANCE AND MOSQUITOES
Mosquitoes have a keen sense of smell and are attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale and other natural body odors. SUNSET and SUMMERTIME work by masking these scents, thanks to essential oils like lemongrass, geranium, peppermint, eucalyptus, and citronella. These particular oils smell delightful to us but create an environment that mosquitoes find confusing and unpleasant. And by combining those with Citrepel, it deters mosquitoes even more!
THE POWER OF NATURAL INGREDIENTS
Our insect repellent range combines essential oils known for their mosquito-repelling properties:
- Lemongrass Root: Fresh and citrusy, a scent that mosquitoes can’t stand.
- Geranium: A beautiful floral aroma that naturally deters mosquitoes.
